Rancho Jacona is a unique and magical retreat. Come here and be left alone to relax, write, meditate, or just soak in the country.

"Not a spa, not fancy, but gorgeous, comfortable, sweet, and easy. Each authentic casita is a spacious unit with fully equipped kitchen and washer/dryer. Each has an outdoor patio. The grounds are lush, with ponds, gardens, lawns, and wandering peacocks. They were strutting their gorgeous stuff when I was there, in honor of spring mating."

If you've never been, book it. You'll likely never stay anywhere else.

"This little New Mexican oasis is about 20 minutes from Santa Fe. It's perfectly situated to be near enough to Santa Fe yet feel like another world. It's in the middle of the high desert, but the grounds are lush green, with ponds, freely roaming peacocks and peahens, sheep, donkeys, chickens, goats and a rabbit warren teeming with hundreds of bunnies. This is where any Goldilocks would find her (or his) "just right". Just the right distance from Santa Fe. And Taos. And Bandelier. And ABQ. And Los Alamos. Just the right level of luxury..."

The common rooms were terrific for gathering together and the spaciousness of the house allowed for privacy.

"We recently enjoyed four nights in the Butterfly House. The house is clean, comfortable and well decorated. The four bedrooms and four bathrooms were great for our three-generation family to spread out in. The kids enjoyed visiting and feeding the animals. The location was great for exploring Santa Fe and Bandelier National Monument."

I have stayed at Rancho Jacona four different times in four different casitas. Each was a delightful experience.

"All locations were well appointed and met every need. Great beds, kitchens very well equipped. Couldn't ask for a better experience. Love the grounds and the animals. Property is centrally located for exploring the Santa Feel area. Los Alamos and Bandelier in one direction, Taos and Chimayo in another and Abiquui to the north. It feels like home!"

This location was perfect for us, relaxing and quaint and homey!

"We had family coming in from north and south parts of the country, and we wanted to experience Santa Fe, Bandelier National Monument, Albuqureque, and casinos without staying at a hotel. We shared three different homes as three family-groups, each house was clean, well equipped with linens and kitchen supplies. The kids in our group were various ages and each of them loved the pool, the grounds, the animals and the (noisy) peacocks. The adults of our group enjoyed privacy, dinners out on the patios, and the relaxing atmosphere."

Our plans? DO NOTHING but enjoy nature and our surroundings. It is so peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating here. We talk in whispers.

"Our 1st time many years ago…it was a place to stay outside of Santa Fe, but now it's our GO TO lodging whenever we're in the area. No need to be "in town." We love Rancho Jacona! Our last 3 visits have been to Turtle House, but previously we've stayed in some of the other houses. We love it here and our dog does too. Bring your favorite spices and food -- cook to your heart's delight and enjoy a BBQ too. Kitchen is fully equipped! We enjoy our walks throughout the property and especially down to the river bed where our pup loves to settle in to a pocket of water to cool off from the 80-90+ temperatures. Such a pleasure to enjoy fresher than fresh eggs for breakfast -- I can't tell you what a joyful taste that is. Sure, we get farm eggs in the city too...but it's different here for whatever reason."
