Raccoon house was built in the late 1800s as “the Girls’ House”. It was customary in large families, when children became adolescent to build a separate house for the girls and another for the boys—as far apart as possible. Originally only one large room with privy out back, it was added to over the decades, ending up as a laundry house in the 80s.

The laundry room is now a brightly tiled complete kitchen; the bathroom is updated, the large original room serves both as living and sleeping space with one queen bed and two, single built-in bunks.

Raccoon is perfect for singles, couples, or a small group who appreciate a cozy, quiet space.

During the day, guests have a spacious living room with game table, TV, VCR and fireplace. The house sleeps two to four. In winter it has its own heating system. Raccoon overlooks an arroyo to the west and has a lovely southern patio under beautiful cottonwoods. There is a wood-burning fireplace in the living room. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a washer and dryer.
