Rooster is near the pool, built in the 1700s as the "boys' house".
One queen bedroom, one with either a king bed or two twin beds, room for crib in larger bedroom, and a queen sofa bed in living room.

Description:
Dating back to the 1700's, Rooster is the oldest building at Jacona. The latillas (the wood strips connecting the roof beams) are the original split juniper, marked by the adzes that were used to split them almost 300 years ago. Rooster's thick adobe walls and viga and latilla construction speak to the age and traditions of the southwest community here.
If you take a moment to look around the back side of Rooster, you will see the adobe horno bake oven of traditional design used for centuries to bake bread and fire pottery. In fact, you will see them still in use throughout the pueblos
Pulling a leather thing to lift the latch of the front door, you enter a small foyer and the living room with a window looking out on to the grass yard encompassing the pool, pool pavilion and mobile. In the corner of the room is the traditional kiva fireplace.
The kitchen and its dining area open directly from the living room.
Off the kitchen is the hallway to the bathroom with shower only and the two bedrooms, one of which has its own adobe fireplace.
Outside, there is a partially covered walled courtyard that runs the length of the building. With vines and lilacs, it is a perfect spot for a book and a sun bath. The peacocks are partial to these courtyard walls as they can watch your every move and give you their opinions from a safe distance.
